SUMMARY

Directly responsible for the planning and implementation of sales and business development activities for Good Harvest to achieve business growth. Sets sales goals in consultation with management. Achieves growth and sales targets by designing and implementing a strategic sales plan that expands the companys customer base and ensures its strong presence in the congregate food service marketplace. Researches and identifies potential customers, conducts business outreach, cultivates business relationships, and secures business contracts for food services.

Maintains strong relationships with existing customers for purposes of customer retention and responds to existing customer needs and requests. Responsible for Good Harvests sponsorship of afterschool and summer meal sites and is the lead for compliance. Networks and collaborates with other food access organizations for purposes of expanding reach of Good Harvest.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Sales
    • Sets sales goals in consultation with management. Achieves growth and sales targets by designing and implementing a strategic sales plan that expands companys customer base and ensures its strong presence in the congregate food service marketplace.
    • Researches and identifies potential customers, conducts business outreach, cultivates business relationships, and secures business contracts for food services.
    • Identifies potential customers for Good Harvest and prioritize them as prospects.
    • Determines how to best reach each prospects decision-makers and discern whether they are a good potential match.
    • Provides decision makers with information, set up meetings, schedule tasting events, and stay on top of communication with prospects leaders so that Good Harvest is considered as a prime option for food service.
    • Leads the onboarding of new customers so that there is a favorable and smooth start to the new customers service.
    • Reaches out to key constituencies to increase sales in a strategic manner.
    • Attend key meetings and events so that new prospects can be identified.
    • Forecasts annual, quarterly, and monthly sales revenue consistent with the desired growth.
    • Forms relationships with key stakeholders so that our sponsorship sites are strategic and increase. This involves being a leader in the different coalitions that brings together all key constituencies.
    • Develop effective business relationships with decision makers on key accounts.
  • Customer Retention
    • Maintains strong relationships with existing customers for purposes of customer retention and is responds to existing customer needs and requests.
    • Proactively and regularly visits customers to obtain direct feedback and facilitate adjustments to ensure customer satisfaction.
    • Ensures all existing customer contracts are updated and renewed in a timely manner.
  • Meal Sponsorship
    • Serves as Good Harvests primary contact with state oversight agency for these sponsored meal programs (MSDE).
    • Recruits new sites to participate in the Summer Food Service Program and Afterschool Meal Program.
    • Train site supervisors how to implement each and both food service programs.
    • Collect necessary documentation from sites to determine accountability for federal funds spent on these programs through Point of Service forms.
    • Collect information and submits site applications for afterschool and summer sites in the MSDE online MARS system.
    • Prepares monthly billing statements for each SFSP and CACFP site for the Finance office to file with MSDE. Serves as lead staff person on preparing for and undergoing SFSP and CACFP audits.
    • Prepare monthly Attend all CACFP and SFSP annual trainings as SVDP representative.
    • Keep apprised of new CACFP and SFSP regulations.
  • Marketing
    • Develops and implements a business marketing plan.
    • Conducts market research and customer analysis
    • Do presentations about SFSP and CACFP food programs featuring Good Harvest efforts at targeted conferences and regional meetings.
    • Keeps both current and potential customers informed about Good Harvest developments through social media platforms.
    • Provides updates to website as needed with timely information.

SECONDARY DUTIES

  • Attends and fully participates in all staff meetings and other internal meetings.
  • Upholds vision, mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore.
  • Assists with and attends special events help by St. Vincent de Paul Enterprises, as necessary.
  • Supports a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers and works with them effectively.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree, required.
  • 4 years of experience in sales, required. Sales experience in food service is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the entire sales process independently from finding customer leads through to onboarding new customers.
  • Effective at forming strong external relationships with potential and existing customers, other food access leaders, and government representatives.
  • Strong embrace of Good Harvest mission of expanding food access to underserved populations.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize ones work effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Persuasive public speaker.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skill.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Positive attitude, demeanor, and patience.
  • Cultural understanding, including the ability to relate in a courteous, comfortable, non-judgmental and non-patronizing manner with persons of all socio-economic and religious backgrounds.
